Best Parks for Kids

Five Brickell family stops: a playground, a linear park, a hammock preserve, a baywalk, and a rainy-day mall loop.

How we keep this useful

Picked and checked by hand; updated when hours, venues, menus, or source pages change.

1. The Hammock Playground

The Hammock Playground at The Underline is the most direct kid stop here: a nature-inspired play environment at SW 15th Road and SW 1st Avenue, with room for active play under the Metrorail guideway.

2. The Underline trail

The broader Underline is Miami's 10-mile linear park and urban trail, with open promenades for walking, biking, and rolling. Go when the kids want to move and you want a real path rather than a single playground stop.

3. Simpson Park Hammock

Simpson Park Hammock is the nature-preserve pick, a pocket of tropical hardwood hammock kept by the City of Miami. Use it for a shaded, quieter walk with curious kids, but check the city page first: posted hours are limited and dogs are not allowed.

4. Brickell Key Baywalk

The Brickell Key Baywalk is the island-loop option, forty-four acres of green space with the only continuous island Baywalk in Miami and more than 5,000 trees. Go when you want a safe, scenic loop with water on all sides for a stroller or small bikes.

5. Brickell City Centre

Brickell City Centre is the rainy-day backup, not a park: shops, dining, and indoor walking space when heat or storms make an outdoor plan unrealistic. Keep it as the practical fallback with food and restrooms nearby.
