Lead story

Carrot Express is adding another Brickell address, with a new location expected to open this fall at 1057 Brickell Plaza. The 1,362-square-foot fast-casual restaurant is planned with 52 seats: 32 indoors and 20 on an outdoor patio. Its menu includes salads, grain bowls, wraps, sandwiches, smoothies, fresh juices and all-day breakfast items. The Miami-born company now operates more than 30 locations across South Florida and New York City. For nearby residents and workers, the practical change is another lunch and breakfast option in a compact part of the neighborhood, with both indoor seating and a patio. What Now Miami reported the plan on July 10. The fall opening window does not include a specific day, so check before making a trip. (What Now Miami)

Across Florida

Statewide speed crackdown runs through Saturday

Drivers across Florida are under extra scrutiny this week. Operation Southern Slow Down runs July 13 through July 18, with Florida joining Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee in the multi-state effort. The campaign pairs stepped-up speed enforcement with public education aimed at getting motorists to ease off the gas. State officials point to the 2024 Florida Traffic Crash Facts report, which found that speeding was a factor in roughly six percent of the state's traffic fatalities. The enforcement push continues through Saturday, July 18, so watch your speed on local roads and highways in the meantime. (Florida Department of Transportation)

Comment window open ahead of Tuesday's preservation board meeting

Residents who want to comment on items before Miami's Historic and Environmental Preservation Board have an open window now. The board meets Tuesday, July 21, at 3:00 p.m. at Miami City Hall, 3500 Pan American Drive, and members of the public may comment in person. The city's online comment form is already open and remains available until the board chair closes public comment during the meeting. That gives residents who cannot reach City Hall on a Tuesday afternoon another way to submit input before the window closes. The city also provides a link to the meeting agenda and says the meeting can be viewed on Miami TV or Comcast channel 77. (City of Miami)
