Citadel's bayfront tower drops the hotel, grows the offices
Griffin's firm has reworked its planned headquarters on Brickell Bay Drive, scrapping the hotel that was once part of the design in favor of a taller, all-office supertall now pitched as a roughly 54-story tower along the bay. Ground work has started on the 2.5-acre parcel, with Related Companies building and Foster + Partners on design. For the neighborhood, the project also carries a $4 million pledge toward Metromover improvements and a new stretch of public baywalk when it's finished.
Getting around downtown while Fan Fest is on
With the fan festival drawing crowds to Bayfront Park nightly through July 5, Miami-Dade is steering people onto the free Metromover, which runs straight from Brickell into downtown. Service is extended to midnight during the festival, with service running until 1 a.m. on June 23, 25, 27 and July 4. If you're heading downtown those evenings, leave the car — parking near the park is tight and the county is openly nudging everyone toward transit.
A new Brickell Italian spot with a 10-item menu
At a moment when Miami menus can read like novels, this 38-seat room at 1000 South Miami Avenue is betting the other way: four starters, three mains, two sides and one dessert, full stop. It's a quiet, confident opening, and a good reservation to make if you like a kitchen that commits to fewer, better plates.
Saturday: a co-ed coworking morning over coffee
Tomorrow, Saturday June 20, the Brickell Babes turn their coworking day into an all-welcome session — "Coffee Co-Ed with Claude," 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Harbour Club in Sunset Harbour. It's a laptops-and-conversation crowd, friendly to both AI newcomers and people who already lean on these tools daily. It's a short hop over the causeway rather than a Brickell address, and spots are limited.
A free community book club
If next weekend is more your speed, the Brickell Babes are running a free book club on Sunday, June 28, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Maman in Edgewater. No cost to join — just show up ready to talk.
